Bahia de Caraquez

Well here we are in Ecuador. After a 6 day passage and a blown out engine we made it. The passage was good if not a bit soggy and luckily we made it to the last sixty miles before Mr. Engine Sir gave it up. Luckily we had pretty good wind even if it was on the nose. We tacked back and forth and made the last 60 miles in about 200 instead. We are now anchored inside a very shallow (0 feet at it´s lowest) bar in the Bahia de Caraquez. About halfway down the coast of Ecuador, Bahia is a bit of a refuge for cruisers as there are about 40 other boats languishing here. We dropped the hook on a Monday and by Tuesday we already had a mechanic ripping apart the engine. As I write this I am banished from the boat (gladly) for the day because there is little room on board with the engine room ripped apart. Hopefully we we be back in shape soon and we can get on to other things such as planning trips around South America. More soon....Liz & Mark
