New Look for Scholarship

Before the new paint
Every two years Scholarship needs her bottom painted to help protect her from all the nasty things in the ocean that may attach themselves to her. Since we have been in very warm water things are growing on the hull constantly so getting out there and scrubbing is a pretty regular thing. This time after a thorough cleaning she was painted red and looks fabulous. It was a little scary hauling out all 28 tons on to the rail at the Balboa Yacht Club in Panama City. As I write this I am sitting at an angle as we are dropping her (gently) back in the water this evening at high tide. Not much else to report. We have been enjoying Panama and been kept busy by projects and lots of provisioning. In three days time, my brother and a friend will arrive and we will take them for a trip out to the Las Perlas Islands. The week after, a visit from my mom and stepdad. I knew those pictures of the Perlas in the last blog would entice visitors. Hope everyone is well and enjoying a mild winter.

Hey you two! Still looks like you are having a blast, seeing wonderful sights and enjoying awesome weather! I must say I am SOOO jealous--I logged on to view your news just in time for the -15 degree weather we will be experiencing this weekend--the cold just had to wait for Hudson's outdoor festival weekend, Hot Air Affair! Oh well, it's not WI if you don't get below zero at some point during the winter. Bert and I have postponed the wedding until next year--we need more time for planning as things have been very busy with my school schedule. I tried to e-mail you about the news, but it was returned! So, I will continue living vicariously through you, as I will not see tropical weather for another year yet! Looking forward to more entries! Take care!
Love, Melsie

Thank so much for your hospitality while we were in Panma - "Klinger" got us to the airport safe and sound! I'm sure you and mom are jumping off the bow right now and wrestling rays or those weird snakes w/ B... It was nice to have some cooler weather in Los Angeles upon arrival - never thought I'd say that...

Ciao for now

Big Bro

Mark!
Congratulations! You're doing it; living this life fully. Your adventures look amazing, enriching, challenging, rewarding, etc...Keep going!
I'm in the USVI working as a divemaster and trying to get my 6-pack license from the Coast Guard so I can drive the dive boat legally. Is there any I can send you fax to sign documenting my sea time I spent with you on Nomad & Scholarship? After viewing where you are this request seems ridiculous, but I thought I'd ask anyhow on the slim chance...either way, I'd enjoy hearing from you. Take care and continue enjoying and inspiring.
